What Personal Data Do We Collect?

As visitors interact with our website they may share information with us up to and including Name, Email address, phone number, IP address, web address, browser version, account usernames and passwords, credit card information, and click behavior.

We collect this data to help facilitate communication, improve user experience, perform our duties as a WordPress service provider, and to measure engagement so we can improve our education efforts.

The only sensitive data that we collect is usernames and passwords for third-party providers such as hosting companies, email providers, and other accounts that don’t allow for the use of sub-accounts or easily sharing account access with a method other than passwords.

All sensitive data is submitted to a secure form on our website, and entries in that form are auto-purged every 72 hours. Sharing credentials is always a last resort when accessing third-party vendor accounts, but is sometimes necessary to perform WordPress support.

Comment Forms

Users who leave comments on our blog posts have the ability to leave comments anonymously, or may choose to include their name, email, and web address as well. Comment data is processed through a third-party spam filtering service, Akismet. You can learn about how comment data is processed by Akismet in Automattic’s Privacy Policy.

Contact Forms

Users who complete our forms will share their name, email, as well as their unique message, which contains whatever data the user willing shares. This information is used to learn about our site visitors and initiate conversations about our business.

These conversations flow into our Help desk, Help Scout. You can read Help Scout’s privacy policy here.

These initial conversations also stored as form entries on https://www.wpsitecare.com. These entries are auto-purged every 30 days and can be removed at any time at a visitor or customer request.

Newsletter Subscription Form

If you enter your name and email into one of our dedicating mailing list forms, we’ll contact you when we publish new blog posts, changes to our business, or special offers. You can unsubscribe from these mailings at any time by clicking the Unsubscribe link at the bottom of the emails you receive.

Media

If you send images to this website or through our help desk, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Who do we share your data with?

We do work with a number of third parties to provide the best service possible for our customers. We ensure that each of the companies we work with meet rigid privacy standards and allow us to control the data held within each of their systems. Below is a list of third parties we work with and their associated privacy policies.

We do not share any of this information without your consent. If for some reason you prefer not to have us share this information, it may hinder the service we’re able to provide, but we’ll honor your request.

  • 1Password – We use 1Password to store sensitive customer data such as WordPress admin passwords, hosting account logins, and logins for other third party vendors. You can read the 1Password Privacy Policy here.
  • GitHub – We store WordPress code at Github that may contain a customer domain name. We do not store databases, secret keys, or any other piece of identifiable information at GitHub. All client Github repositories are private repositories, and are not accessible outside of the WP Site Care team. You can read the Github privacy statement here.
  • Help Scout – Help Scout is our customer communication and help desk tool. All customer and inbound sales inquiries are process in Help Scout. We have the ability to purge customer conversations completely at the customer’s request. We share your name, email, company, industry, and some location data with Help Scout.   • MailChimp – We use Mailchimp to send out occasional newsletters. We share your email address, name, and region with MailChimp so we can deliver these messages to you. You can read MailChimp’s privacy policy here.
  • Stripe – Stripe is our secondary payment gateway and name, email, all transaction data, order and payment details, and credit card details are submitted directly to Stripe. We do not collect any of this information or data on our servers. You can read the Stripe privacy policy here.

With Public Authorities or Law Enforcement

In certain situations, we may be required to disclose personal data in response to lawful requests by public authorities, including to meet national security or law enforcement requirements. We may also disclose your personal information as required by law, such as to comply with a subpoena or other legal process, when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights.

What Rights You Have Over Your Data

During cancellation of our services we follow a templated process to ensure that all customer data is removed from our records and the third-party vendors that we use.

If at any point you wish to have us remove your personally identifiable data, submit a request to [email protected] and we’ll ensure all records associated with you are removed from our servers as well as any third-party vendors that we use. We will ensure that this process is completed within 72 hours of the initial request.
